TROUTMAN, N.C. — In the latest indication that the region’s hot industrial real estate market and overall e-commerce trends show no sign of cooling, the nation’s biggest retailer has confirmed plans for a massive distribution center here.

Walmart Inc. expects to create 500-plus jobs at the facility, which will serve as a “high-velocity fulfillment center” to support the company’s supply chain network, according to a press release. The operation will be at 386 Murdock Road in Troutman, about 35 miles north of Charlotte in Iredell County.
CBJ’s Collin Huguley reported back in December that the retail behemoth had purchased the 1 million-square-foot building for $69 million.
