MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Former WSOC-TV anchor Doug Mayes died Sunday morning at 93.
A visitation was held Tuesday night at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home & Crematory in Mooresville.
"He lived a very good and long life and a very rich life and he'll be remembered and I'll certainly never forget Doug," said Cullen Ferguson, former WSOC-TV anchor.
The funeral is Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Denver United Methodist Church and it is open to the public.
Mayes was Charlotte's first permanent TV anchor in 1952 at WBTV.
He came to Channel 9 in January of 1982 and stayed until he retired in 1988.
