MONROE, N.C. — A man killed in Union County while streaming on Facebook Live was honored during a candlelight vigil Saturday at Creft Park in Monroe.
Police said Douglas Colson shot Prentis Robinson to death Monday in Wingate while Robinson was streaming a Facebook Live video.
Robinson’s friends started a cookout fundraiser to help pay for funeral costs.
"Prentis Robinson was a good friend of mine, so what we are doing is a unity in the community, pretty much calling everybody to put down the beef and pick up the beef, just bringing everybody out to fellowship,” organizer Dee Allen said.

Authorities said Robinson sometimes used Facebook Live to call out drug dealers and mentioned Colson by name.
Colson is charged with first-degree murder.
Robinson's funeral is Wednesday in Marshville.
