Video shows driver performing streets stunts in front of NASCAR Hall of Fame

CHARLOTTE — A new video shows more apparent drag racing in Uptown.

Telemundo reporter Emi Darquea captured footage of a car making donuts in front of the NASCAR Hall of Fame on South Brevard Street late Saturday night. Later in the video, a police cruiser could be seen entering the road.

Channel 9 has reached out to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to see if any arrests were made Saturday night.

The new video comes after footage surfaced in February showing street stunts shutting down South Brevard.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said it has been working to crack down on these events with Operation Street Takeover. The departments have arrested dozens of people in the process.

“It is very loud aside from being dangerous,” Charlotte Councilman Ed Driggs said.

Charlotte city council members said in February they are confident CMPD will crack down on these stunts.

“CMPD is very aware,” Driggs said. “We are on it. We are trying to balance that priority with public safety, with containing violent crime.”
