Kiana Woodson hasn’t had a car for three weeks and uses a carpool group to get a ride from her home at Devonwood Apartments in east Charlotte to work.
"I heard my door being kicked in,” Woodson said.
She jumped out of bed at about 2 a.m. Tuesday and grabbed her son after she heard the commotion.
The intruder saw her, tried to take a TV and ran out of the apartment.
"I go to the door and I kind of crack it and he's standing right there, and he sees me with my baby he runs out of the house."

"His intentions weren't to really hurt me,” Woodson said. “It was to either take my stuff or just to break in to scare me."
Then it dawned on her that she may have known the intruder.
"I saw the car and it was the guy who had (given) me a ride the day before," she said.
She said the last ride was different than others because the driver kept on texting her afterward.
"I made a post,” Woodson said. “I'm, like, ‘I'm never using this group again. I'm sorry and thank you to the people who did help me.’"
After the break-in, she installed a security system, but she is still on edge, even when detectives came to the door asking about the case.
"I answered the door, and I'm crying because I’m so scared to answer the door because I don't know what to do," she said.
No arrests have been made.
