Veterans Park in Charlotte to get fitness court

First Lieutenant Joseph Finneran was shot down and killed over Romania during World War II's Operation Tidalwave, a bombing mission in 1943, where 178 planes were involved. Following the air raid, 59 planes did not return, including Finneran's.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A park in east Charlotte is getting new exercise equipment thanks to the Carolina Panthers.

The Panthers, Lowe’s and Veterans Bridge home are teaming up to build a fitness court at Veterans Park on Central Avenue.

The county is planning a groundbreaking for the project next week.
