CHARLOTTE, N.C. — If you were having issues with your cell phone’s network, you’re probably not alone.
Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint customers in the Charlotte area were dealing with cellphone outages Friday.
Verizon said it uses Charter Communications fiber lines, and a change to its network impacted Verizon’s cell sites.

According to outage maps on Down Detector, there are widespread service outages across the state for Verizon customers.
Around 4 p.m., Charter sent Channel 9 a statement saying, “Our engineers have been working continuously to resolve a router issue affecting cell towers and wireless services in North Carolina. We have successfully restored connections to almost 90% of the affected locations and are working to complete restoration as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience for the affected wireless customers.”
T-Mobile and Sprint customers were also reporting large outages. It’s unclear what the cause was for those.
If the outages last awhile, you may be entitled to some money back. Read the terms and conditions -- there’s usually a lot of fine print.
