CHARLOTTE — Local veterans were celebrated in Charlotte on Saturday.
Veterans Bridge Home held its fourth annual Star-Spangled Salute Gala. VBH leaders, retired military members, and others took part. Retired general and former chairman of the joint cheif of staff Peter Pace served as the keynote speaker.
The VBH helps veterans and their families in the Charlotte area as they transition from military life.

“When they get out of the military, it can be tricky to get out,” Steven Cole of the VBH said. “They are going to be great in Charlotte, but they need help with the transition. So jobs, human services, and a group of friends. That’s what Veterans Bridge Home does, and that’s what this event is going to support.”
The VBH also helps to connect veterans with education, housing, state, and federal resources.
