KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — A local vape shop owner is accused of raping a 15-year-old girl twice in exchange for vapes.

According to court documents, it began when the suspect sent the teen a message on Snapchat offering vapes in exchange for sex.

The teen told police she decided to report the crime after she saw his mugshot on the news after he allegedly did the same thing to another girl.

In court documents, the suspect in this case was identified as Mohamed Mosed Ahmed Al-Hareurey.

Al-Hareurey is the owner of Mo’s Vape and Tobacco in Kannapolis. He allegedly raped the girl twice in exchange for vapes in 2024, according to an affidavit.

Last June, Al-Hareurey was arrested by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office after allegedly using Snapchat to ask a 14-year-old girl for sex by offering vapes in return.

Lisa Diefenderfer, with Safe Alliance, told Channel 9 that parents should teach their kids about consent at an early age.

“Abusers use resources and things that they have to manipulate and control their victims. And, unfortunately, it seems like this has occurred here,” Diefenderfer said. “Create that environment in your home where your children are going to talk to you about what’s going on with their bodies from the beginning, and that way this is just now part of normal conversation so children are not afraid to come and talk to their families.”

Parent Summer Starnes said she won’t shop at Mo’s Vapes and Tobacco again.

She said she also plans to talk with her children.

“I have a daughter myself, and I don’t understand what goes through people’s minds to make them think that’s okay,” said Starnes. “I tried to pound in that safety thing with them. Just watch what they’re doing; watch who they’re communicating with. Pay attention.”

According to court documents, Al-Hareurey is being held at the Mecklenburg County jail on eight charges, including rape and soliciting the prostitution of a minor.

His bond has been set at $500,000.
