UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Vandals used Molotov cocktails to burn several vehicles parked along a road Thursday night in Union County.
Deputies said they responded around 11 p.m. to reports of a vehicle fire on Dale Street just outside Monroe.

When they got there, they said they discovered a Lexus sedan, a Ford F350 dual pickup truck hitched to a flatbed trailer and an 18 wheeler that had all been burned and vandalized.
According to investigators, the vandals used Molotov cocktails -- bottles filled with flammable liquids, to set the fires -- which destroyed the Lexus and Ford F350. The inside of the semi-truck had minor damage.
Deputies said “BLM” and “Black Lives Matter” were also spray-painted on the vehicles and they found similar spray paintings on the side of an old Food Lion building nearby.
According to detectives, the owners of the vehicles park along the street often because of residential codes or limited parking at their homes.
Deputies said they don’t have any suspects but sheriff’s detectives and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are continuing the investigation.
