USC wants to end pledging at fraternities, sororities

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The University of South Carolina is looking at ending pledging at its fraternities and sororities and wants Greek groups on board with the plan.

The school met with national fraternity and sorority leaders last month to introduce a plan to eliminate pledging.

Channel 9 found that eight USC fraternities faced misconduct sanctions in the 2015-2016 school year, and last spring a pledge died from alcohol poisoning.
