Uptick in commercial burglaries reported at east Charlotte businesses, police say

CHARLOTTE — There has been an increase in commercial burglaries in the Plaza Midwood are and Central Avenue corridor, CMPD said.

Authorities recommend that business owners affected by the stay-at-home order follow these tips:

• If you have an alarm system, please make sure that it works properly and the contact information is up to date
• If you have cameras, please make sure that they work properly
• Try to check your business every day, to look for anything out of place
• Take pictures of the serial numbers of any electronics or other valuables that you have
• Do not leave any valuables in plain sight
