Union County deputies use drone to find missing teen

UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies in Union County say teamwork and technology helped them find a missing teen over the weekend.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call this past weekend for a missing teen in the Unionville area.

As temperatures plummeted outside, deputies with the Baker Squad Patrol Division deployed a UCSO drone – equipped with a thermal camera and floodlight.

Officers scanned a nearby wooded area and were able to locate the teen and quickly reunite her with family members.

In a Facebook post, Sheriff Eddie Cathey said he is “proud of the teamwork and technology that made this swift rescue possible.”

Cathey offered a “huge thank you to all of the Baker Squad deputies involved in this mission.”
