UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Union County commissioners want more time to figure out what to do about its EMS services.
The commissioners decided Monday night to form an advisory board to help them.
Commissioners want the board to oversee proposed changes to ambulance routes and make recommendations to them on Nov. 30.
Officials would take the recommendations to Carolinas Union Healthcare to work out an agreement.
Last month Union County officials scrapped a controversial plan to slash ambulance numbers and concentrate EMS along Highway 74 during non-peak hours.
Union County commissioners also approved a $2 million contract for a new human services building with Perkins and Will.
Commissioners also gave the green light to spend more than $500,000 to build walking trails and a recreational area at Jesse Helms Park.
