UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Two Union County elementary schools announced they are moving to remote learning temporarily due to COVID-19.
Weddington Elementary announced it will move to Plan C from Jan. 25 to Feb. 5 due to five students testing positive for the virus. The schools said several students and staff members may have been exposed.
Benton Heights Elementary said it’s moving to Plan C from Jan. 25-29, because several teachers and staff members were impacted by COVID-19.
Union County Public Schools said it is working with the health department to determine close contacts.
It also said it is disinfecting and sanitizing the impacted areas of the school.
Benton Heights Elementary will resume classes on Feb. 1, and Weddington Elementary will reopen on Feb. 8.
