CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Part of Tyvola Road in south Charlotte was closed throughout the morning Friday after a driver hit a power pole overnight and ran off.
The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. on Tyvola Road near Wedgewood Drive, right in front of the Smith Family Center.
More than 1,300 Duke Energy customers were without power and crews were busy all morning trying to fix the pole.
Officials said teh power was restored just before 12:30 p.m. and the road would reopen soon.
Tyvola Road was closed between South Boulevard and Londonderry Road.
Drivers could use Seneca Place, Archdale Drive and Woodlawn Road as alternate routes.
