UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Highway Patrol said 21-year-old Shad Little and 19-year-old Garrison Smith were killed and several others were injured Friday morning following a serious crash Union County.
Officials said the accident happened on East Highway 218 around 3:45 a.m.
Their Ford F-350 truck was driving on Highway 318 when it ran off the side of the road and hit a tree, according to highway patrol.
Little, Smith and four others were on their way to go duck hunting in Peachland when the crash happened.

Speed and alcohol were not a factor, troopers said.
Officials are checking to see if the driver fell asleep behind the wheel.
