CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police charged a fourth suspect Friday in the 2016 murder of a Union County teacher.

Ambrosia Neely, 39, was charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Earlier this month, police charged three others in the case.

Cecil Marble, 39, Michael Marble, 36 and Keric Teron Watt, 36, were charged with murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with the shooting death of Ruijuan Guo.

The 33-year-old teacher was shot during an armed robbery on East Park Avenue in South End on Sept. 9, 2016. She died several days later.

Police said Guo was with her fiancé and two friends at the time of the robbery.

“They were truly innocent victims in this case,” CMPD Lt. Brian Crum said. “They had no idea that this was going to happen.”

One of those friends, Joe Fuqua, was found shot and killed in a hotel two days later.

Police said the two cases were connected. They said Fuqua participated in the planning of the robbery but did not kill Guo.

Michael Marble was already charged in that case and has been in jail since 2016.

Police believe Fuqua was killed to cover up Guo's murder.

“Our victims and our detectives live these cases days on end, months on end, and in some cases, like this, years on end,” Crum said.

Back in July, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives announced a $15,000 reward for information related to her death.

She was from China and had been teaching Chinese at Kensington Elementary School in Waxhaw.

All four suspects were being charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Cecil and Michael Marble were scheduled to appear in court last week.

Watt is currently in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons and will be served his warrants at a later date.
