HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — A truck crashed into a car dealership in Huntersville Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened around noon at Keffer Volkswagen on Statesville Road.

Sean Bartol was in his office, just to the left of where the Ford F-250 slammed through the wall.

“The first thing I'm thinking is an earthquake. Thought about, should I be going under my desk to hide or what? It was very confusing,” Bartol said.

It was confusing for everyone working at the dealership.

Justin Hutchins saw the truck head for a parking space.

“Next thing I know, he's over the curb and in the wall. I guess he was trying to park,” he said.

Allan Shuford got to the driver moments after impact.

“Oh, he thought, he said, ‘I thought my foot was on the brake and it slipped off.’ I don’t know how you can slip off the brake and end up through a wall. Stuff happens,” Shuford said.

Inside, glass panels were toppled over. There was so much damage that a county inspector was called in and quickly declared the back offices unsafe.

“I'll put it inside. Shouldn't anybody be back in that area at all,” said Mecklenburg County inspector Ron Dishman.

Eyewitness News wasn’t able to talk to the driver, but did see him carrying things away from his truck.

By late afternoon, the truck was moved out and the gaping hole was being repaired.

Bartol was still thinking about his close call.

“Could have ended my life. Could have ended his life. Definitely injured us badly,” he said.

In the end, no one was hurt. The man whose office was crushed in the crash was off Thursday.
