HILDEBRAN, N.C. — A man walking down the street in Burke County was killed by a car on Sunday, and troopers have now identified who he was.
Troopers said they responded to a crash on George Hildebran School Road near Wilkies Grove Church Road around midnight.
They say they found Chang Ching Yang, 31, hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee there. He was wearing dark clothes, and there were no lights on the road.

The driver of the Jeep was not hurt in the crash. He won’t face charges, and investigators don’t think he was under the influence or speeding when the crash happened.
