CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — North Carolina state troopers were investigating a crash that left a 22-year-old woman dead early Wednesday morning in Catawba County.
Emergency responders were called to the 2-car crash around 4:30 a.m. on Slanting Bridge Road, near Drena Road, just south of Highway 150.
Troopers said Marissa Billings, of Iron Station, was killed when her car, which was heading north on Slanting Bridge Road, lost control, crossed the center line and was hit by another vehicle.
Billings was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital but their condition was not released.
Troopers said weather did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
Slanting Bridge Road was shut down for hours while troopers investigated.
