Troopers: Driver dies in single-car crash in Iredell County; speed and alcohol to blame

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — North Carolina Highway Patrol said speeding and alcohol use caused a deadly crash in Iredell County Wednesday night.

The crash happened at around 7 p.m. on Rowan Road at Triplett Road in Statesville.

Troopers said the driver of an SUV veered to the left and crossed the center line. He then overcorrected, flipping the SUV. Authorities said he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle.

The driver, Steven Joe Rose, 48, died from his injuries.
