Troopers: 1 dead in York County crash involving tractor-trailer

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — One person died in a crash Monday evening near Rock Hill, according to Highway Patrol.

Troopers responded to South Carolina Highway 5 near Reservation Road just before 6 p.m.

A man was driving a tractor-trailer on Highway 5 when he crashed into an SUV, trapping that driver inside their car, troopers said. The driver of the SUV, who was driving on Reservation Road, was trying to cross over Highway 5 to continue traveling on Reservation Road.

The trapped victim, a 65-year-old, died at the scene of the crash, troopers said. The name of the victim has not yet been released.

Troopers did not say if any charges will be filed.
