CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — At around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, the South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle fatal collision that occurred on US 21, near McFadden Road.
According to troopers, a sedan was driving south when a dump truck crossed the centerline and hit the sedan head-on.
The driver of the sedan was not wearing a seat belt, had to be removed by mechanical means and later died.
The 26-year-old dump truck driver, Keith Dawton Amerson, of Rock Hill, had worn a seat belt. He was taken by EMS to Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster for his injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
