SALISBURY, N.C. — Three men were arrested following a shootout and subsequent police chase in Salisbury Thursday morning.
According to the Salisbury Police Department, officers were called around 11:30 a.m. to West Innes Street after they were told people inside two cars were shooting at each other.
Police were told one car was a red Toyota Solaris and the other was a silver Kia Optima.
Officers found the Kia on the campus of Livingstone College and arrested the driver, Cailyn Roseberry. Police said they also found a stolen Glock 19X 9mm.
Roseberry was arrested and charged with felony stolen firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.
A short time later, officers spotted the Toyota on Jake Alexander Boulevard and pulled the car over.
The driver, though, sped off, leading police on a chase before he lost control of the Toyota and crashed at the intersection of Lincolnton Road and Mooresville Road.
The driver, identified as 28-year-old William Rankin, tried to run away but was taken into custody in a nearby wooded area, officials said.
He was charged with felony flee to elude, discharging a firearm within city limits, possession of a firearm by a felon, attempted discharge of a weapon into occupied property, and probation violation.
Police said a High Point .45 caliber pistol was found in the Toyota.
The passenger in Rankin’s car, 18-year-old Jaheim Riley, was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.
