‘Transitions been hard': Restaurants adjust to Meck Co. alcohol ordinance

MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. — Friday night marked the first weekend since Mecklenburg County’s alcohol ordinance took effect.

The new regulation aimed at curbing late-night crowds forces restaurants that serve alcohol to transition to takeout and delivery only at 11 p.m. every night.

It applies to all parts of Mecklenburg County except the towns of Cornelius and Huntersville. They decided not to sign onto the resolution.

“Every week they change something. It’s not as easy as our elected officials think it is,” a restaurant owner said.
