The Weddington Green project would develop land between Providence and Weddington-Matthews Roads.
The last updated plan was for 197 homes but after feedback, the president of Provident Land, Tom Waters, said there would be 168 homes.
The development would also feature specialty shops, office spaces, hiking and biking trails, a beer garden, an amphitheater, food truck stalls and an eight and half-acre park.
Last month, 500 people showed up to the meeting. Many were against the project, saying it will add traffic and overcrowd schools. People who support the project want more amenities, such as restaurants and bike trails.
“We’re listening to the citizens and some of the town council comments, and we’re making some changes where we’re able to make them,” said Waters, president of Provident Land.
Waters said they have changed the plan 30 times based on feedback.
The town council is expected to ask Waters questions at future meetings. The earliest vote on the project will be in May.
