CHARLOTTE — People needing to catch a plane Friday morning may want to check the status of their flights before they head to Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
American Airlines blames severe weather for delays and cancellations at the airport.
A Channel 9 crew at the scene could see many people already filling up the airport Friday morning. One spoke said he was one his way to Toronto, Canada, from Aruba when his flight was unexpectedly canceled.
“We flew in last night at 7 o’clock. We had out flight delayed for two-and-a-half hours. Then when it was time to board, it was delayed 10 minutes about seven times, maybe eight. We saw the pilot up at the front at boarding. Then, they just disappeared and then cancellation shows up on the screen,” Joe Ruggeiro said.
Within the last 24 hours, Flight Aware, a service that tracks flights, said airlines canceled more than 200 flights at Charlotte Douglas.
