Three young children taken from suspected drug house in Chesterfield County

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — Narcotics agents with the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office said they raided a home Tuesday morning and found three young children were living in the house with drugs and stolen guns.

Deputies said the two boys and one girl are all under the age of 10.

The raid on Chatham Drive, just outside the city limits of Cheraw, capped off a two-month investigation that started with a neighbor's complaint.

Neighbors told Channel 9 the family that lived in the house is new to the neighborhood.

"I didn't know they were selling drugs, but I know they just moved here," said Isaiah Wright.

Sheriff's investigators said they believe the suspected drug house had 15 to 20 customers a day, at all hours.

Terence Cephas, Dehaven Ford and Destiny Anderson are all facing charges. Anderson is charged only with simple drug possession. Cephas and Ford face distribution charges.

Investigators said they seized five guns, including an AK-47 and a stolen AR-15, hundreds of dollars in cash, scales, and drugs, including crack, ecstasy pills and marijuana.

The thought of school-age children living in the home was most disturbing to neighbors.

"I feel for the little kids, for the little children, what they're gonna have to go through," said Ronnie Campbell, who had stopped to visit a friend in the area.

Sharon Wright said she keeps to herself and didn't know what was going on nearby.

"I feel it's a shame to do it around the kids, because first of all, they got a future, and that's gonna mess up their whole future," she said.

Narcotics officers told Channel 9 they did several undercover drug buys at the house going back as far as two months.

Officers said some people in the community were upset after the raid because their drug suppliers were off the streets.

Officials said all three children are now with other family members.

Anderson, Cephas and Ford are awaiting bond hearings.​
