CLEVELAND, OHIO — The Republican National Convention kicked off Monday in Cleveland, Ohio and will run through Thursday. Each morning on Eyewitness News Daybreak, anchor John Paul will break down the events from the night before.
Here are the top three things to know about Day 2:
Trump officially nominated: Delegates officially named Donald Trump as the Republican presidential nominee. "Congratulations, Dad, we love you!" Donald Trump Jr. said in casting the votes for the Trumps' home state of New York that officially made him the nominee.
Make America Work Again: Two of Donald Trump's five children spoke Tuesday. Donald Trump Jr., Trump's oldest child, and Tiffany Trump, Trump's youngest daughter, addressed the audience about what it was like growing up with the New York billionaire as a dad. Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, Gov. Chris Christie and Dr. Ben Carson also spoke.
LOOKING AHEAD: Indiana Gov. Mike Pence will introduce himself to the nation with his headline speech Wednesday. The night's theme will be "Make America First Again," addressing the belief that the U.S. has lost its dominant position in the world and outlining how to make the nation prosperous again.
