CONCORD, N.C. — The zMAX Dragway in Concord was filled with pink as hundreds of walkers filled up the drag strip Saturday morning for breast cancer awareness.
Survivors and supporters came out for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, which was hosted by Channel 9 anchor Allison Latos.

The money raised will help give free lodging and rides for patients to treatment, among other things.
“If you can't get to your care, you're not going to have a great outcome,” said Megan Nelson, executive director of the American Cancer Society. “We want to eliminate that barrier.”
“I get excited this time of year to come here to support them, 'cause I know they’re supporting me,” said breast cancer survivor Emily Ashley.
Organizers were hoping to raise $450,000 at the event.
The money raised stays in Charlotte to fund research and help pay for treatments.
