Thousands of children in NC foster care system in limbo due to COVID-19 crisis

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The coronavirus pandemic is no doubt impacting families in so many ways, but for children in the foster care system, it has been a different challenge.

Many places that prepare families to take in foster children like Nazareth Child and Family Connection have had to suspend training programs and classes due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Shawn Squirewell said the outbreak has essentially stopped any progress of getting new homes in its track, but the referrals for children in need does not.
