HICKORY, N.C. — Thieves stole laptops at a local Best Buy after breaking through the cinder block wall of the store early Thursday morning, Hickory police said.
Investigators told Channel 9 reporter Dave Faherty that the thieves created a second hole after running into a pipe in the first.
Best Buy officials said it happened around 3 a.m. Thursday and the thieves were inside for about 30 minutes.
"It's crazy. It's kind of out of out of a movie. They went through a wall like out of a burglar movie or something," Mashiia Bullock, Best Buy customer, said.
Police recovered surveillance video and are reviewing it.
The thieves used sledgehammers to bash through the wall. Best Buy officials said there was a similar case at a store in south Charlotte and believe they may be linked.
Police said the burglars first tried to go through a different wall but a pipe and other items forced them to make a second hole.
Once inside they went through the walls of both the men's and women's bathrooms to get into the store undetected. Outside the thieves
smashed several lights.
"It looks very professional. The cut of it and everything. They obviously knew what they were doing. It was pre-planned which is even scarier that they knew what they were doing," Miranda VanHorn, employee, said.

A manager said they are going through inventory to determine what was taken.
"Being close to Christmas people can jack up the prices and sell it on Craig's list. Anywhere they can figure it out and there is not tracking devices," Stephanie Gill, customer, said.
Workers described seeing two men who wore a lot of clothing to conceal their identities.
