WAXHAW, N.C. — Union County sheriff’s deputies made an arrest in connection to a break-in Tuesday morning at a popular produce stand on Providence Road in Waxhaw.

The burglar appeared to have planned out the crime in detail, officials said. He cut the wires to all of the cameras to the Providence Produce Market except the one aimed at the freezer. The man broke a back window, climbed into an office where the cash registers and computers are stored and stole them, along with the money.

Deputies were tipped off that a vehicle matching the one in connection with the produce stand’s break-in was at a construction site Thursday afternoon on West Duncan Road near Fairview.

They saw stolen items in the Chevrolet Malibu that matches those stolen from the business.

Terrill Marcus Webber, 27, of Charlotte, was working at the construction site and he was driving the Chevy.

Webber was arrested and charged with one felony count of breaking and entering and felony larceny.

David White has owned the stand and two others like it for 15 years. He's only had one other incident, but it wasn't nearly this bad.

"They took everything that goes in the stand that they could haul out of here. They cleaned us out," White said.

Providence Produce Market stays busy with loyal customers and Pam Brennan is one of them. She's there just about every day.

"This is our lifeline.  This is where you get your fresh vegetables and fresh fruits. It's a family business, and it's just so sad," she said.

White said the burglar used one of the business's produce carts to place everything on and wheel it to a waiting car.

"He parked right out front. I mean, he didn't hide a thing," White said.

The burglar undermined the stand’s surveillance technology.

Images from the camera are immediately uploaded to the cloud so the burglar's attempt to conceal the theft was thwarted.

The clear images and video were taken to the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

The same evidence was posted onto the produce stand’s social media channels.

The employees did not recognize the man in the surveillance pictures.

White said insurance will cover the losses, but peace of mind is another thing.

"When someone comes and does something like this to us, it hurts," he said.
