Thief caught on camera stealing tip jar from Gastonia restaurant

GASTONIA, N.C. — Gastonia police are trying to track down the woman who was caught on surveillance video stealing hard-earned cash from a restaurant's tip jar.

In video taken from inside the CDA restaurant on Union Road Tuesday morning, the woman can be seen looking around before pulling the tip jar across the counter and stuffing it in her bag.

Employees said she only made off with $20 to $50, but they said they earned that money.

"We work hard just like everybody else,” said Madison Carrigan. “Stealing something that's not yours.”

The restaurant hopes someone recognizes the woman and calls police.
