The latest happenings in Charlotte's restaurant scene

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — April was chock-full of news pertaining to Charlotte's restaurant scene, whether it be tied to new openings, closures or planned establishments.

A smattering of long-anticipated restaurants have recently opened their doors, including an authentic Italian eatery in south Charlotte's Rea Farms development, a concept in Plaza Midwood that melds Southern and New England cuisines and a chargrilled-burger joint for the midtown area of Charlotte.

By the same token, April brought with it a few closures in Charlotte's food-and-beverage industry. Flight, a beer garden and music hall in uptown's Northside Station, closed mid-month after about three years in business as did Charlotte's Three Spirits Brewery on Old Pineville Road.
