LAKE WYLIE, S.C. — A local teenager hauled in an impressive catch from the depths of Lake Wylie this summer.
13-year-old Landon Anthony was fishing with his grandparents a few weeks ago when he reeled in a 36-pound catfish.
His enormous catch is getting praise from all over, including a York County official.
Appeals board member Allison Love wrote in a Facebook post that she would think about Landon’s catch every time she gets in her inner tube on the lake.
Landon’s dad passed away a few years ago. He has been fishing with his grandfather ever since. For those asking, yes he released the fish back into Lake Wylie because “after 10 pounds they don’t taste good anyway.” pic.twitter.com/pTiZuVrpF0

His family said Landon has been fishing since he was little when his father taught him. They said his father died a few years ago, but his grandparents have been taking him fishing ever since.
It’s become a family tradition and they said this catfish was the biggest thing the teenager has ever caught.
Landon said he dreams of one day being a professional fisherman.
