JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A teenager has been charged with shooting and seriously hurting a 17-year-old Friday evening in a Johnston County Walmart parking lot, police said, WTVD reported.
The shooting happened around 5 p.m. at the Walmart on Brightlead Boulevard off Highway 301 in Smithfield.
Matthew Beddingfield, 19, was charged with attempted first-degree murder after he turned himself in Saturday to police.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. His identity has not been released.
Beddingfield is being held at the Johnston County Jail with bail set at $1 million.
No other details have been released at this point.
