MOORESVILLE, N.C. — In less than 48 hours, President Barack Obama will tour Mooresville Middle School to experience its digital learning program.

On Tuesday, Eyewitness News went inside the school for an inside look at the program and what the president will see on his tour.

Moorseville Middle School Principal Carrie Tulbert spent the day preparing for Obama's visit.

She said it is not only a monumental experience for her students, but also a chance for her to show off the key to their academic success.

The digital learning program allows for each of her students to have a personal laptop that they take home each night.

On Tuesday students used their computes rather than traditional textbooks to learn animal anatomy.

Educators said the program has increased student test scores and has even increased the graduation rate district-wide.

Mooresville graded school district now has the third-highest graduation rate in the state and it is in the top three when it comes to state test scores.

Obama has already called the program cutting-edge curriculum, and students who learn it every day agree.

"You can never interact with stuff in a textbook, so when you're looking at things it does engage you more," said Dianel Chabeda.

Mooresville Graded School District implemented the program about five years ago using grant money.

Tulbert said they have been able to spend less money on textbooks thanks to the program.
