UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Critical race theory has made national headlines for months now. Many says it’s a valuable way to learn from our country’s past, while others say it might cause students guilt or shame.

North Carolina is one of several states with pending legislation to ban critical race theory from being taught in K-12 public schools.
