CONCORD, N.C. — A SWAT team and the Concord Police Department are no longer responding to an incident at an apartment in Concord, according to authorities.
After 12 p.m. on Sunday, CPD said it was responding to a barricaded subject at the Summerlin Apartments near Warren Coleman Boulevard.
CPD said they heard multiple shots coming from inside the apartment, which prompted a SWAT team to be called to the scene.
Police said the entrance to the apartment complex was closed as crisis communicators attempted to make contact with the person inside.
The building where the incident took place was evacuated and residents in other buildings were asked to shelter in place, according to police.
Resident Johnathon Barbee said he was at home when police knocked on his door.
“I was wondering who’s out there knocking on the doors. All of a sudden, it was Concord Police. I come out, open the door and they were like, ‘Man, you got to get out of here. Get all your stuff right now.’ Came outside and saw 20-plus cop cars,” Barbee said.
Shortly after 4 p.m., police announced that the situation had been resolved.
Police said this was an isolated incident and there was no danger to the general public.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
