MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Mooresville's police chief is lending his experience to another town while he is on paid leave.
Mooresville suspended Chief Damon Williams with pay in June amid an investigation into a hostile work environment.
A town spokesperson confirmed he is volunteering to help the Taylortown Police Department.

Williams worked with the Taylortown Police Department from 2005 to 2010 and served as its chief from 2007 to 2010.
He told our news partners at the Mooresville Tribune the department asked for his help and insight after the current chief decided to leave his position.
The town of Mooresville is aware of his volunteer work and said he is still on leave.
"This was not done underhandedly," Williams told the Mooresville Tribune. "This was done to help."

Mooresville spokesperson Kim Sellers told the Tribune the hostile work environment investigation is finished, but town officials are waiting to get a final report.
