MONROE, N.C. — Officials said two suspects robbed two Monroe cellphone shops Friday.

Police investigate an armed robbery at a Pinesville Sprint store

"That's crazy," said William Stegall, who was shopping at the Metro PCS on Highway 74 in Monroe hours after it was robbed Friday.

The two suspects went to the Boost Mobile store on Williams Road after robbing the Metro PCS store, Monroe police said.

They were caught after a Union County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted the getaway car in Indian Trail. After a high-speed chase and crash, Keonte Raysor and William McVay III, both from Charlotte, were arrested.

"Hallelujah, amen and let them stay in there," shopper Kerry Long said.

It was the second time in two days that cellphone stores in Union County have been robbed.

"Any rise in crime is concerning," Union County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Brian Huncke told Channel 9.

Four suspects, including two teenagers, robbed the Verizon Wireless store in Indian Trail on Wednesday night while customers were inside. All four suspects were caught after a two-county police chase.

Investigators said stolen phones are often sold online or on the black market. Sometimes unsuspecting buyers may have trouble with the stolen property.

"You're putting yourself at risk, not only going out and buying stuff, for your safety, but also for your money, if you buy something stolen that's not able to be activated," said Huncke.
