UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies said they have a suspect in custody after a man was shot to death Monday morning in Union County.
The shooting happened around 9:30 a.m. on Corinth Church Road in Monroe.
According to deputies, the suspect shot 35-year-old Dustin Lane Rape and drove off but was stopped a short while later by law enforcement. Rape later died from his injuries.
The suspect, 28-year-old Justin Lamar Richardson, is facing a charge of first-degree murder.
Deputies believe the shooting stemmed from an argument between Richardson and Rape. Richardson initially left the house, but later returned and a second confrontation happened, which deputies said led to the fatal shooting.
