CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Firefighters say a suspect has been arrested after a house fire in northeast Charlotte early Sunday morning was ruled arson.
It happened around 7:30 a.m. on Beecher Drive, which is near Barrington Drive and The Plaza.

When firefighters got to the house, they saw smoke coming from the second floor of the two-story house.
Authorities have not said what caused the fire, but they did say the fire was intentionally set.
CMPD told Channel 9 they were initially called to assist firefighters. When officers got to the scene, they encountered 37-year-old Amber Ellerson. After speaking with her, she was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting public officer.
Throughout the investigation, investigators determined Ellerson was a suspect in the fire and she has since been arrested for second-degree arson.
Officials said the fire caused around $26,500 in damage to the house. No injuries were reported.
