CHARLOTTE — Two local restaurant groups got a nod in a recent feature by Southern Living for their work to bring new life to old church buildings. The feature, “10 Heavenly Repurposed Churches Across The South,” highlights boutique hotels and dining establishments from New Orleans to Savannah to Nashville.

At No. 7 on the list is Supperland, a venture by the Tonidandel-Brown Restaurant Group that has garnered accolades since opening in Plaza Midwood in 2021. It landed on “Best New Restaurants” lists by Esquire magazine and Bon Appétit last year.
Also featured in the Southern Living article is the Charleston location of Church & Union at No. 10. That restaurant is one of several by Charlotte-based 5th Street Group.
