HUNTERVILLE, N.C. — Suffolk Punch Brewing has expansion on tap with a new location planned for Birkdale Village in Huntersville.
The Charlotte-based brewery — which recently debuted its SouthPark location — expects to open a nearly 1,600-square-foot taproom in one of the standalone jewel-box spaces at Birkdale early next year. It will be located in an area known as The Grove, in the heart of the shopping complex.

Entering the Lake Norman market fits Suffolk Punch’s plans perfectly, says Seth Stidham, co-owner and chief operating officer.
“We look for opportunities where we can serve neighborhoods and add value to a local community,” he says. “Where we can turn up the volume on great beer and great food in a unique environment.”
The jewel-box location will be smaller than Suffolk Punch’s other taprooms, Stidham says — but guests will be surrounded by other shopping options and have a view of the adjacent concert pavilion.
Expect a two-story taproom, with a rooftop bar tucked within the trees. Seating will overlook The Plaza at Birkdale. Downstairs, a full-service bar will connect to an all-seasons patio.
