Student graduates with classmates after serious car accident

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A student who nearly died in a car crash earlier this year got his diploma on Monday.

Myers Park High School senior Thomas Crain joined his friends at graduation in uptown.

In February, Crain was driving to school when he was hit making a turn onto North Sharon Amity Road.

He spent 76 days in the hospital, but was able to make it back for graduation.

"I'm just grateful to everyone really, who's helped," Crain said.

Crain is taking the next year off to work on his recovery.

He plans on college in the fall of 2013.
