Student charged with having loaded gun on school property

UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A Union County student was accused of having a loaded gun on campus Wednesday, according to the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

Two Forest Hill High School students were involved in a fight Wednesday morning on the campus. Both students were arrested.

After investigating, officials found Kenneth Shelby Rose, 16, had a loaded revolver in his car. He was charged with possession of a weapon on school property which is a felony under North Carolina law.

The second person involved in the fight, 18-year-old Kyree Alexander Lotharp, was charged with simple assault.
