STATESVILLE, N.C. — A Statesville Police Department officer is on leave after being arrested for assault.
According to SPD, Officer Anthony Jerome Irving was arrested on Monday and charged with the misdemeanor crime of domestic violence and assault on a female by a male over 18 years of age.
Few details have been released, but SPD confirmed Irving was hired last February.
In a statement, Police Chief David Onley told Channel 9, “The Statesville Police Department is committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability. Any allegations of criminal behavior involving our personnel are taken with the utmost seriousness and will be addressed appropriately.”
Irving is currently on administrative leave.
